Today's blog post is all about what we got up to a few weekends ago. We went to a dog show. It wasn't a kennel club show it was just a fun one in Jades village field. So we went together. Jade went with her dog Teddy who is a back greyhound aged 3 nearly 4 years old. Lydia went with her dog Amy who is also a black greyhound but aged 8. This was Lydia's first time showing but Jade goes all the time. The sun was shining and it was a very warm day so we packed plenty of water for the both of us but also for the two doggies. Teddy and Amy enjoyed meeting each other for the first time, some more than others. Let's just say Teddy was a little ' Frisky' and wanted to have puppies with Amy!! The funny thing was Amy wasn't saying no!
The classes Lydia and Amy entered was:
*Prettiest Bitch
*Young Handlers (11-16)
*Best Veteran
*Best Shorthaired
The classes Jade and Teddy entered was:
* Most Handsome Dog
* Young Handlers (11-16)
* Best Shorthaired
The first class was 'Prettiest Bitch' and at least 27 was in the ring maybe even more. Lydia stood there with Amy as the judge who was a woman went round and looked at the stance and condition of the dogs. The judge was very sceptical with Amy and didn't really spend much time looking at her and went straight to the next dog. Unfortunately Amy wasn't placed in the top 4 and didn't win a rosette.
The next class was 'Most Handsome Dog' and again it was a big turnout and at least 30 was in the judging ring. The judge didn't make much of Teddy as we thought was because he was a greyhound and there are mixed thoughts on the breed. Unfortunately Teddy wasn't placed but he did get a free chew.
The next class up we was both in. It was the 'Young Handlers (11-16). We both had to run around the ring with our dogs and then each go up separately walking our dogs, to see how we handled them. We then had to go round the ring one more time and Lydia was leading the group and Amy decided to wee in the ring ! Unfortunately for Amy and Lydia they didn't get placed however Teddy and Jade got placed 3rd !! Here is a picture of Teddy showing off his 3rd place rosette.
The next class was 'Best Veteran' and it was Amy's turn to shine. Although maybe she wasn't feeling up to it.... She decided to take a sit down and just chill on the grass in the ring! But hey who said veterans don't lie down all day! Amy just wanted to show the Judge how she spent her days at home. So again she didn't get placed but got a free chew !!
The last class for us was the 'Best Shorthaired' and both Amy and Teddy was in this class. This time round the judge paid attention to Amy and asked about her. Amy's coat is in lovely condition it's a house coat and she lives off prime meat ! So it shines lovely. When it came round to Teddy..... Well he was still 'frisky' from earlier and tried to mound the poodle next to him!! Lost all chances right there!! Although the good news is Amy only went and bagged herself 1st place. She was very delighted !
After a long day both greyhounds took to their own beds with the fan on and just chilled. They was cream crackered !! Both doggies enjoyed it and so did we. Such a great experience and a nice day out for all of us!!
We hope you enjoyed this blog post in what we got up to. We are both very proud of Teddy and Amy. It was such a great day. Thank you for reading the blog post it means so much to us!! We hope you are having a beautiful day and you have smiled !!
