Traditions Of Their Fathers Book Review

Hello It's 2 Peas In A Pod Blog Here,

Welcome back to our blog, it's Jade here. Today's blog post is a review of this great book we were sent from Cory Ellsworth. The book genre is action, that is something that I don't usually read as I much prefer a good romantic book. I was very intrigued by this book and wanted to give it a go.

So 'Traditions Of Their Fathers' is the first book in 'The Sieger Chronicles'. The book is set in 2060. You soon learn that there has been a nuclear war and over 3 and half billion people have died. The president is trying to keep his power and has created a depressant cocktail (HR23) and it is put through the air and in the drinking water to get rid of mental illnesses and the bad people. Also if anyone goes against the government and protest they will be eliminated in front of an audience on the tv.

It begins with us learning about Ben who is 15 years old and his family. Ben has a very strong relationship with his sisters, especially Sophie who is 3 years old. At the beginning, Ben is quite distant from his father, Daniel aged 44. And thinks very fondly of his mother, Eliza who is 44 years old. All of Ben's life he has been living in a bunker away from the city. One day he questions this to his family and he learns a lot about his family history. Ben learns that his mother and father are wanted and if they are found they will be killed Ben's grandfather actually attempted to expose the government and was executed on tv and that's why Ben's parents are wanted.

Something big happened and leaves a big hole in Ben's heart. However, it starts to shape him into the man his father aspired him to be. Ben is adamant he is going to take the government down and in the book you follow his journey as he is carrying out his mission.

The book overall is really great and it was very unique. I actually really enjoyed it considering I never usually pick up an action based book. It is so futuristic yet so realistic the way it is set out and written. I really enjoyed the suspense and vivid images I had inside my mind. The character development of Ben is really great he has such a strong level head for a 15-year-old. Overall I really enjoyed the book and would recommend it to anyone, you don't even need to be an action lover.

So, I hope you enjoyed my review of 'Traditions Of Their Fathers'. I feel like the review was quite vague but I really didn't want to give any of the good main plot twists away.

Now, here is the good part. Cory Ellsworth was very kind to post us a second book to actually giveaway to you lovely readers. I would highly recommend you enter this short competition because it is a great book and you would love to read it I am sure. The giveaway competition starts on the 28/11/17 which is today and ends the 12/12/17 at 8pm in the evening. The winner will be announced that evening We wanted it to be a short giveaway so it could be a great Christmas present for whoever wins from us two and Cory Ellsworth.  All you need to do is fill out the requirements by clicking the link below. Most of all Good Luck !! Thank You once again for sending us a great book Cory.

Birthday Trip To London

Hello It's 2 Peas In A Pod Blog Here,

Hi everyone and welcome back to our blog, it's Jade here. So 2 weeks ago I celebrated my 17th birthday. I went to our beautiful capital city for 2 nights and 3 days. I really enjoyed my visit.

So when we arrived on Thursday we checked into our hotel room and headed straight down to oxford street where all the shops are. I specifically said I wanted to buy myself a pair of black denim dungarees. Well, I kid you not, I could not find a pair anywhere and every shop I asked either had no clue what I actually meant or they just stocked blue denim dungarees. So my mission for a pair of black denim dungarees was unsuccessful. We continued our shop and I did pick up a few pieces of clothing, but if I am honest I was not that impressed on the clothes out in the shops at the moment.

After the shopping trip, we went to Covent gardens to a beautiful pub and restaurant called Nags Head. It was up high and I was able to look out on all the shoppers and buskers. After many tube trips, we headed back to the hotel and got ready for the evening's events. My nan treated my Mum and me to go see Mama Mia in west end theaters. I can confirm it is amazing. I absolutely enjoyed it the singers and dancers were amazing and put on a fun filled show. After the show, we walked around Covent gardens and listened to some buskers and took in the beautiful city in the night time.

The next day was Friday and we prepared ourselves for the day with a scrumptious breakfast. I topped up my oyster card and off we went on the London Tube. We headed to Regent street and bought a few more pieces of clothes. I also went to Hamleys and purchased an overpriced soft toy. It was £30 for a Kola bear teddy, but worth it haha. We then went to Camden town. We visited the famous Camden market and there were some cute quirky stalls. I also tried bubble tea for the first time. It was amazing, I had strawberry flavour with passion fruit balls. I actually really liked it, I would definitely buy another one.  We then headed to Carnaby street where we stopped off for a drink at an Irish pub. We then did a bit of shopping and looked around liberties.

Sticking with posh shops we then went to Harrods and observed all the expensive items that I could only dream of owning. Outside Harrods was this posh Cafe. We decided to go in. The place was called Caffe Concerto in Knightsbridge. I ordered a strawberry cheesecake and a vanilla milkshake. URGHHH it was so tasty and lovely. Very rich in flavour. That evening we went to china town and ate so much Chinese food. It was good though. We then had a stroll to Leicester Square and we watched a few buskers.

Then Saturday we were ready to leave and caught the train home. I really enjoyed my stay in London and would like to thank my Mum and my Nan for taking me. My favorite part was seeing Mama Mia in the theatre. I would definitely recommend anyone who hasn't watched it go see it.

That's all for me I hope you enjoyed reading about my adventures in London. Sorry about the picture quality it was on my iPhone which is broken. So yeah. Hope you all have a great day. Thank you for reading our blog.

Seeing Olly Murs Live 2017

Hello It's 2 Peas In A Pod Blog Here,

Hello everyone and welcome back to our blog! It is Jade here. As you can see by the title I went to see Olly Murs live in concert. On the 13th March 2017 I traveled down to Nottingham to see Olly Murs live in concert. It was so amazing. I have seen Olly live before at Nottingham on his last tour and I just had to see him again this tour. Firstly when I arrived at the arena I went to the merch stall to buy myself a tour top. I bought the black edition. We then got our drinks and were taken to our seats. I was actually blown away with how close I was to the stage. My mum and I were 6 rows back from the front! So exciting.

As Olly came on stage the crowd were up on their feet and singing and screaming in excitement. Olly first sang 'You Don't Know Love', which I have to say is one of my favourite songs of his. That and 24 hours.

This was Olly Murs after he sang the first song 'You Don't Know Love'. As you can see the photos are not the best as I took them on my iphone.

Throughout the concert, Olly would just have a chat with the crowd. Olly is very cheeky chappy and talked about his past girlfriend a lot which the crowd booed at. I thought that was a bit harsh but Olly just laughed.

One thing that I did pick up on and I did when a saw him live a few years back is that he is a very passionate singer and puts 100% into performing and creating the best concert for the fans.

Overall I really enjoyed the concert and I would definitely see him live again. In fact I am seeing him live again on his summer tour in 2017. So that should be fun. I doubt I will do another blog post on it as it will be very similar to this one. Olly thanked his fans and his band and exited with 'Years & Years'.

Thank You for taking the time to read this blog post. I had a great time at the concert and I wanted to share my experience with you. Have you been to seen Olly Murs before? And what is your favourite Olly Murs song? Thank you once again and I hope you have a great week, I am off to London to celebrate my birthday so that should be fun! Keep smiling!

The Blogger Recognition Award

Hello It's 2 Peas In A Pod Blog Here,

Hello everyone and welcome back to our blog! We hope you are having a wonderful day! Today we are kicking it off with a tag. We rarely do tags over on our blog so it felt right to do one for a change. So a few weeks back we were kindly nominated for 'The Blogger Recognition Award' by the lovely Après Gal (Becca). Thank you so much, Becca, for nominating us we appreciate it so much. We actually met Becca at the blogosphere tea party back in February, she was so friendly. If you would like to check out Becca's blog post on her Blogger Appreciation Award then you can do so here

So with every tag are some rules....

  1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog
  2. Write a blog post to show your award
  3. Give a brief history of how your blog started
  4. Give 2 pieces of advice to new bloggers
  5. Select 15 bloggers to nominate the award to
  6. Let the bloggers know they have been nominated and provide them a link to the blog post you created
So going down the list we need to enlighten you lovely readers on how the blog was created. It's funny really as we both got asked this question a few times when we went to the blogosphere tea party event. It actually made us step back and think, how was it created? The story really is not that interesting as it started off with Jade reading blogs. Jade has always had a passion for writing so it felt right to begin a blog. It then came to a catchy blog name. That is when '2 Peas In A Pod Blog' was born. Jade created it but soon realised she would need a partner to make the blog name seem catchy and worthwhile. Jade invited Stephanie but that soon came to an end a few months down the line when Stephanie wasn't enjoying it anymore. That is when Lydia asked to join the blog. From then on we have enjoyed every moment of the blog and we do not regret anything. We really do enjoy writing the blog and the moment we don't is the moment we will take a break.

As there is 2 of us writing this blog post we will give a piece of advice each to new bloggers.

Jade's Advice To New Bloggers:

My advice is to simply have fun. I can not express that enough. The reason why we started this blog was to enjoy ourselves. Truthfully Lydia and I really enjoy ourselves and it has given us a new hobby.  Don't get bummed down by followers and page views. It really isn't all about that, I mean anything is a bonus don't get me wrong but make sure the content you write and publish is because you enjoy writing it and it's not for the followers and the freebies.  I personally think your readers will notice if your writing is full of happiness and joy, make that your unique selling point. More readers would rather read a blog post from the heart rather than the money. So make sure you enjoy your blog, keep working hard at it and all the hard work will pay off.

Lydia's Advice To New Bloggers:

My advice is to write what you want, and believe in yourself. Much as Jade said you have to enjoy writing a blog, and the only way to really do this is to write what you want, write about what you like, make sure that you love and enjoy your blog, as you don't want to be writing blog posts for page views etc as its not what you would want. Also write about what you would like to read, the blog posts that we write are ones that we would like to read if we were reading the blog. It isn't good writing blog posts that you don't like or enjoy.

The 15 Blogs Who We Nominate:
  1. Olivia- Olivia Alesha
  2. Lisa- Fairly Rosy
  3. Erin- Erin Grace
  4. Jade- Simply Jadey
  5. Britney- Britney Naude
  6. Charlotte- VieAvecCharlotte
  7. Kate- ItsKateRose
  8. Frances- Royally Rouge
  9. Kate- Life In Kateish
  10. Alicia- Aesthetic Obsessed
  11. Abbie- Life Of Abbie Jenkins
  12. Anna- Thumbelina
  13. Hannah- Alongside Hannah
  14. Clare- Pale And Intresting
  15. Lauryn- Life Of A Blonde
If you click on the blog names it will send you straight to their blogs, they are all amazing and we think all 15 of you deserve this award nomination.

Thank You for taking the time to read our blog post it means a lot thank you. We hope you have enjoyed this blog post tag and we hope to do more tags in the future. Thank You again, Becca, for nominating us we had so much fun doing this blog post. Also, don't forget to tune into our blog again this Thursday for another edition of The Interview Series. 2 Peas In A Pod Blog Q & A

Hello It's 2 Peas In A Pod Blog Here,

Hello everyone and welcome back to our blog! We hope you have had a great day. Today's blog post will be a Question & Answer (Q&A). We asked on twitter for some of you guys to tweet us some questions you would like to know the answers of. So without further ado lets get answering your questions!

1. What was your highlight in 2016 in terms of your blog?

Jade: My highlight for our blog has got to be when we reached 10,000 page views. I know it's not about numbers but it felt good to be able to feel like someone is reading our blog. Since then we have hit 30,000 page views, so thank you so much!

Lydia: My highlight of 2016 for our blog is the same as Jade's, I'm just so proud of us for when we hit 10,000 page views. We've come far from when the blog first started. It' also funny to look back just before Christmas and Jade and I said that we would hopefully hit 20,000 page views before the new year and the next week we hit 20,000 page views! And now were on over 30,000! It means so much so thank you so much!

2. How do you manage to have a two-writer blog?

Jade: I really like the idea that we are a joint blog, that way Lydia and I have something to do together. It can be quite difficult to make sure that our blog posts aren't similar and the content we post on our blog is a variety rather than us both having the same or similar blog posts.

Lydia: It's normally fairly easy for us to have the joint blog. Sometimes it does get difficult trying to decide who's going to do what for each blog post. I am glad that the blog is joint as I wouldn't have thought about doing a blog myself, but, I'm really glad that we do it together.

3. What is the best book series you have read?

Jade: This is tough for me as I can only finalise it down to two. Firstly for an easy read, I recommend the Zoë Sugg, Girl Online Trilogy.  It's an easy and relaxing read and I really enjoyed the story line. My other book series favourite is the Twilight books. I read them all so fast, I much preferred the books to the films, I even went on to read other books by the author that were spin-offs from Twilight. I just love them a lot.

Lydia: I never used to read much, but recently I've come across a couple of good books, however they aren't book series'. But, I have to say my favourite book series I have read is probably Malory Towers by Enid Blyton. These have been around a while but my mum used to read them with me so I have fond memories of them.

4. If you had to live out the rest of your days as an animal, what animal would you be and why?

Jade: The animal I would be is, a dog. I would love to be able to say an exotic animal like Zebra or something. However, I would definitely be eaten by a Lion very quickly. So I will be boring and say a Dog, preferably one of my pet dogs as they are looked after and are spoiled rotten!!

Lydia: This is going to be a really boring answer, but, I would probably like to be a cat. The main reason is because cats sleep most of the time and I really love my sleep and love having naps. I would like to be my cat as he is spoiled and always gets hugs and attention!

5. If you could only have one make up item what would it be and why?

Jade: I would say foundation as I have red skin and not very clear skin so the foundation would cover up all the redness and blemishes.

Lydia: I would probably choose concealer, I mainly just use concealer as it does a good job of covering my blemishes.

6. Do you collect anything, if so what do you collect?

Jade: I collect Disney teddies (plush toys). I have so many that I have lost count and I also have no more room to store them. I love them lots though.

Lydia: I don't actually collect anything in particular that I can think of. I mainly just keep and collect little things that I get from family holiday's as memorabilia.

7. What is your favourite Disney film?

Jade: My absolute favourite Disney film has to be Fox And The Hound, makes me cry every time.

Lydia: I would have to say that Lion King is my favourite, although I cry when Mufasa dies. But I just genuinely love the film and love all the songs in it!

8. What was the last film you saw in the cinema?

Jade: I rarely go to the cinema, the last time I went to the cinema it was to watch Me Before You. That was with Lydia and it was sad.

Lydia: The last film I saw in the cinema was La La Land, I saw it on Sunday actually! And it's safe to say that I absolutely love it and I've had the soundtrack on since then! Ryan Gosling is just perfection!

9. Favourite pair of shoes you own?

Jade: My all black converse, I have definitely got my money's worth out of them. I am considering in re-buying some new ones.

Lydia: My favourite shoes are my white trainers, they are basically a cheap version of converse, as I wear them to college everyday I had to invest in a new pair, I love them so much and considering that they are cheap they are actually really comfy and good quality!

10. What are your aims for your blog in 2017?

Jade: My aim for the blog this new year is to advance in our photos on our blog posts.

Lydia: My aim for the blog is the same as Jade's to make my photos and blog post's better, to improve our blog just that bit more.

Well, that is the end of the blog post, we hope you have enjoyed getting to know us better. Thank you to those who tweeted us questions for our Q & A. Hope you have a great day and thank you for taking the time to read our blog, it means a lot. Thank you.

Jade's 2016 Favourite's

Hello It's 2 Peas In A Pod Blog Here,

Hello, everyone, I hope you are doing well. It's Jade here. Wow, is it that time already? The time where I tell you guys what I loved throughout 2016. Truthfully I am glad to see the back of 2016 and I hope 2017 is much better. So without further ado lets get on to what I loved during 2016.

Also dont forget to come back to our blog this Thursday to check out our first ever blog interview with a blogger. All will be revealred Thursday 12th January.

So first up in 2016, I loved the Urban Decay Naked Pallet 1. I received it for Christmas 2015, so throughout 2016 I always reached for this pallet. I feel like it has a variety of shades and that is why I love it so much. I feel like my blending skills have gotten so much better in the past year. I tend to use the shade 'Naked' on the eye lid then I put 'Sin' on top. Then I put 'toasted' in my creases and blend them in. After that, I usually put 'Virgin' in the inner corners of my eye lids to brighten up my eyes.

My next favourite of 2016 has to be the Real Techniques blending sponges. You may know that I used to be obsessed with the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush, I would use nothing else but that brush to apply my foundation. Then obviously I got the new Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation (which I would never recommend) Here is my review on that foundation if you want to check it out. (just click the word here). Anyways I bought this sponge to test out the foundation. Ever since then I have always used this sponge. It is amazing and helps me apply my foundation a lot more smoother now. Also, I had washed these sponges before I took this picture but where I use the sponge the most the foundation has stained the sponge. Gutted, if any of you know of a way of getting that out then it would be much appreciated.

The next favourite I loved in 2016 is the Yankee Candle Berry Trifle. What a surprise to see a candle appear in my favourites. Anyways, this has to be my favourite I got it for Christmas 2015 and I instantly loved the smell. I sparingly used it as I didn't want it to run out as it's a Christmas edition you can only get it around that time of the year. So for this Christmas I was very happy when I received the biggest version of this candle.

Zoella products in general have been my favourite in 2016. I love all the products I have and I often repurchase. I can not decide if Tutti Frutti or Sweet Inspirations are my favourite range. I love the Soak Opera and I had to buy another one just to take this photo. So everything in this picture is my favourite product from each of the ranges Zoë has released. I was lucky enough to get a pamper hamper for Christmas so I have a fair share of the gingerbread scent. I have to say the gingerbread spray is a little too overpowering for me.

My next favourite is very random but it is the Thorntons Mini Caramel Shortcake Bites. I am an all round lover of caramel. Anything that has caramel on it I love. So when I found these in the supermarket I had to get them. I know they are unhealthy but once and a while a little bite will not mind. They are so rich in flavour and they are very moreish. I have to stop myself from eating the whole packet. Recently I found out they did white chocolate versions of these.  So I got them for Lydia and I to try. All I can say is wow, once myself and Lydia took a bit we instantly looked at each other and said 'Omg'. They were so so nice. I have just realised I have written a whole paragraph on a caramel shortcake bite, I feel like that says a lot about me. HaHa!

The next favourite of 2016 is Blogging. I feel like in 2016 I fell in love with blogging a lot more. I felt like it was an escape from the outside world. There was nothing more I loved than coming home from a stressful day of GCSE revision and opening my laptop to write a blog post. It helped me unwind and I really enjoyed it. It has driven me to want to do more with the blog this year in 2017 and make it better. Lydia is also on board with that so hopefully this year our blog is much more advanced.

This favourite is quite important to me. This is because without my laptop I would not be able to blog or do my college assignments. I have the Macbook Air 13 inch. I love it so much. It is light weight and easy to travel with. As I do media I have access to programs like Adobe Premiere Pro etc. I just love it.

My last but no means least favourite is my Kylie Jenner Lip Kit. I have the Shade Candy K. I love it so much and the lip liner is great I use it all the time. I feel lucky to have one of these and I am glad I bit the bullet and finally bought one.  Candy K suits my skin tone and I reach for it a lot. I personally would not buy another one because of the shipping costs and customs fees. I can't remember exactly how much it cost me in the end but the shipping and customs charges cost more than the lip kit. Don't get me wrong if they were sold here in the UK then I would not hesitate to buy loads more. But throughout 2016 I used my lip kit, I love it.

Well that is a wrap! Thank you so much for taking the time out your day to read this blog post. We really do appreciate all the people reading our blog.  I hope you have enjoyed reading all about my 2016 favourites, What is your 2016 favourite? Also Happy New Year !!!

Christmas Eve Pamper Night

Hello It's 2 Peas In A Pod Blog Here,

Evening everyone and welcome back to our blog. Today's blogmas blog post is about Christmas Eve. We had orginally planned to post this blogpost on Christmas Eve, then we thought hang on how can people be inspired for their Christmas Eve pamper night? So we have decided to post this a day earlier than planned.

Jade has a tradition with her mum that they order a Chinese and eat it in cozy pyjamas. So that is a great way to kick off your Christmas eve pamper night.

Then it is time for a warm bath with candles lit around it. To make it even more festive play some Christmas tunes. In all our pamper nights we always try and feature a lush product as they are just the best when having a cozy pamper night.

So for the Christmas eve pamper night it was only right to use the Luxury Lush Pud bath bomb. The website says ‘Oh bring us some figgy pudding and a tub of good cheer; a Christmas pudding this sweet and malty is worth enjoying early - and all to yourself. Dessert-scented tonka and relaxing lavender melt into clouds of pillowy foam as a blanket of benzoin resinoid casts a serenely creamy spell. Satisfy your Christmas cravings with a bath before drifting off into a deep and tranquil sleep.’ The reason why we chose to use this bath bomb for a christmas eve pamper night is because it has lavender in the bath bomb that helps you sleep. So when you are in bed all excited for Christmas day this bath bomb will help you go to sleep. Also on my sticker from the store it said ‘Catch 40 winks on Christmas eve with islands of foam and melting lavender.

So this was a must have bath bomb for Christmas eve. So Jade just had to purchase it when she went to Lush.

Then you are going to need a face mask to pamper your skin ready for the festive day ahead. We highly recommend the Origins Clear Improvement, Active charcoal mask. It is great for oily skin and those who suffer from spots. Then after the face mask you need to cleanse your skin. We recommend using the Number 7 green bottle. It leaves your face so clean, it’s amazing.

Then after your festive bath you need to get cozy. So firstly on Christmas eve night you are going to need some cozy pyjamas. Jade likes her fluffy fleece bottoms and a cozy fleece jumper. Lydia likes her one direction band top and her fleece bottoms.

Then it is best to spend time with your family so go light some festive candles in your living room and grab a fluffy blanket. Then make yourself a hot chocolate. This hot chocolate is our favourite, its white hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows on top. Yummy.

Then the best way to chill on Christmas eve is sticking on a Christmas movie that everyone loves. Jade has a tradition of watching Miracle On 34th Street and Lydia loves to watch the snowman. This year channel 4 are doing going on a bear hunt. So that’s one to look out for.

After all the excitement of the Christmas movies and snacking on the box of quality street, it is time to go to bed. Don’t forget to put out your mice pie and carrot.

Once you are ready for bed it is time to moisturise after all it is a pamper night so you need to go all out. We recommend the Estée Lauder Day Wear Cream. We use the oil free version as both of us are unlucky to have oily skin. Oil Free moisturisers on your face work wonders.

Then it is time to get some beauty sleep. As Christmas Day will be full of taking family photos etc.
