Terry's Chocolate Orange Cookies

Hello It's 2 Peas In A Pod Blog Here,

Hello everybody, welcome back to our blog! How are you all today? Today's blog post is by Lydia, and as you can tell by the title it's a baking blog post! It's getting closer and closer to Christmas, and as it's near that time of the year, we have a festive recipe blog post for you here. Both Jade and I love a chocolate orange, we always have them around this time of year. Especially when we get them as gifts at Christmas. I love watching a Christmas film and sharing a chocolate orange with my family of an evening in the countdown to Christmas. So, we made some chocolate orange cookies, and here's how we made them!

Ingredients;
  1. 110g Unsalted Butter, softened,
  2. 200g Light Brown Sugar,
  3. 1 Large Free-range Egg,
  4. 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract,
  5. 165g Plain Flour,
  6. Pinch of Salt,
  7. 1/2 Teaspoon Baking Powder,
  8. 1/2 Teaspoon Bicarbonate of Soda,
  9. 30g Cocoa Powder,
  10. Terry's Chocolate Orange .
Method;
  1. Preheat oven to 190°C (Gas Mark 5). Line two large baking trays with Parchment paper.
  2. Cream the butter, sugar and vanilla together until light and fluffy. Add the egg and beat until incorporated,
  3. Add the flour, pinch of salt, baking powder, bicarbonate of soda and cocoa powder, mix until a dough comes together.
  4. Divide the mixture into balls. Spread out evenly on the baking trays.
  5. Put a segment of the chocolate orange on each ball of dough.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until spread out and crackling on top.
  7. Once cooked, allow the cookies to cool on the trays for 5 minutes - in this time the cookies will harden a bit to make them easier to move. Finish cooling on a wire rack.
  8. Once cooled, enjoy the delicious cookies.

So, that's the end of the blog post. I hope you enjoyed reading, this recipe makes such nice cookies! If you don't like chocolate oranges then you can use the same recipe but change the chocolate orange to a chocolate of your choice. These cookies were delicious! We also made different cookies using the same recipe just had the small pieces of terry's chocolate orange mixed into the mixture. They were both just as nice. If you make these cookies we would love to see them! Thank you again for reading, I hope you enjoyed reading.

What's In My Travel Bag

Hello, It's 2 Peas In A Pod Blog Here,

Hello, everyone, it's Jade here, hope you are all well. As you are reading this I am currently sunning it up in Cyprus! So I am writing this blog post in advance. I guess you could say that's where I got my inspiration for this blog post. Today I am going to be showing you what's in my travel bag! I also tried out a new style of photos on this blog a new lay out etc. Let me know what you think, I still used my Canon 700D. I don't have a specific bag to go traveling with other than my small suitcase but for holidays and long flights, I tend to bring a rucksack for bits for on the flight! So for this flight, I am going to bring my college bag as it's a rucksack and quite big so I can carry things. This bag is just a standard grey Hype bag.

So the first thing that is an essential for in my travel bag is my iPad. I always bring my iPad so I can watch movies and TV series. I have the Netflix app so I just pre-download things and watch them on the flight. A TV series that I always bring is Gavin & Stacey as you all know by now, it's my absolute favorite series in the world. So that will keep me occupied for an hour or so.

My next essential for my travel bag is my iPod. Again sticking with the gadget line. I won't go on too much about this as it's basically for my music. I also bring my phone but that's standard.

The next thing that is in my travel bag is my passport! This is a must especially if you are traveling abroad.... I wouldn't get anywhere without it. On my passport, I have this blue fluffy Me to You cover and I've had it on since I was about 8 years old. I just don't wanna take it off because I love it!

Another item that in my travel bag is a book. Wherever I go traveling I love to bring a book especially when I'm on a long flight as it kills time. The book I've decided to bring on my holiday is Holding Up The Universe by Jennifer Niven. I have read All The Bright Places By Jennifer Niven before and I loved the book and her style of writing. So after reading the blurb on the back I was hooked, I actually can not wait to start reading this on my holiday.

My last item that goes with me in my travel bag is Vaseline lip balm. I try not to bring liquids and fluids etc as they will be taken off me at customs so a tin of Vaseline works well. When I'm on the plane my lips dry up so much! So I try to keep applying this as it helps moisturise my lips. My favourite one is the Aloe Vera one.

Well, that's it from my travel bag. I hope you enjoyed it. What is your number 1 essential for your travel bag? I'm very excited to go to Cyprus next week, be sure to keep an eye out on what I get up to over on my social media. Thanks for reading this blog post it means so much to me. Have a good day!

Dum Dum Review

Hello It's 2 Peas In A Pod Blog Here!

Hello everyone! Welcome back to our blog, how are you today? I hope you're having a good day today. As you can tell by the title this blog post is a review on Dum Dum's. If you don't know what Dum Dum's are they are a chain of donutteries that sell doughnuts and cronuts (a mix between croissants and doughnuts). One of their shops is in Brighton, Jade and I went to Brighton last week, there will be a blog post next week about everything we did!

We had heard a lot about Dum Dum's and about how good they were. We really wanted to try them and see if they were as good as they look. They really are, they are so good. We got a box of 6 for £15, 3 doughnuts and 3 cronuts. We had half of each one, we shared them so we could try more of them.

The Cronuts;

The Zebra Cronut

This is the first one that we tried, both Jade and I were very excited to try this as we had heard that they are delicious, and they really are! The Zebra is made from layers of croissant dough and chocolate crossiant dough, filled with chocolate butter cream. It is Dum Dum's most popular cronut, and we can both tell why it is. This is our favourite, we would definitely have it again.

The Nutella Cronut

The Nutella Cronuts are made of layers of chocolate crossiant dough and chocolate butter cream, and nutella in the middle of the cronut, we had this cronut and the other cronut and doughnuts the day after, so they weren't at their best. But, this was still so good!

The Salted Caramel Cronut

This is the Salted Caramel Cronut, now I love salted caramel and so does Jade so this was one that we just had to try it. Although this cronut was really good we still though that the Zebra cronut was still our favourite. But, it did taste really good! This was Jade and I's second favourite out of the 6.

The doughnuts;

Blueberry Cream Doughnut

We had heard that this doughnut was really good, so we just had to try it, although both Jade and I aren't the biggest fans of doughnuts, the doughnuts at Dum Dum's just looked so good. This doughnut was definetly my favourite out of the 3 doughnuts, it even had blueberry cream inside which we weren't actually expecting, but it was yummy!

Unfortunately we dont have any single pictures of these as we were to excited and just ate them but they were still pretty good.

Strawberry Cheesecake Doughnut

This one wasn't my favourite but it was still nice, it had strawberry cream inside and biscuit crumbs on the top in a heart shape, I thought it was a cute addition to the doughnut. It was a favourite of Jade's though.

Chocolate Cream Doughnut

The chocolate cream doughnut was quite a normal doughnut, however, it still tasted really good! I had cream in the middle that made it even more tasty! It is the chocolate one with white lines on.

All of the doughnuts and cronuts were all so tasty. Both of us would recommend that if you see a Dum Dum's then buy either a cronut or doughnut as they are so good and so yummy. They are too amazing for words! Thank you so much for reading this blog post and I hope that you enjoyed it! Thank you again.

Seeing Olly Murs Live 2017

Hello It's 2 Peas In A Pod Blog Here,

Hello everyone and welcome back to our blog! It is Jade here. As you can see by the title I went to see Olly Murs live in concert. On the 13th March 2017 I traveled down to Nottingham to see Olly Murs live in concert. It was so amazing. I have seen Olly live before at Nottingham on his last tour and I just had to see him again this tour. Firstly when I arrived at the arena I went to the merch stall to buy myself a tour top. I bought the black edition. We then got our drinks and were taken to our seats. I was actually blown away with how close I was to the stage. My mum and I were 6 rows back from the front! So exciting.

As Olly came on stage the crowd were up on their feet and singing and screaming in excitement. Olly first sang 'You Don't Know Love', which I have to say is one of my favourite songs of his. That and 24 hours.

This was Olly Murs after he sang the first song 'You Don't Know Love'. As you can see the photos are not the best as I took them on my iphone.

Throughout the concert, Olly would just have a chat with the crowd. Olly is very cheeky chappy and talked about his past girlfriend a lot which the crowd booed at. I thought that was a bit harsh but Olly just laughed.

One thing that I did pick up on and I did when a saw him live a few years back is that he is a very passionate singer and puts 100% into performing and creating the best concert for the fans.

Overall I really enjoyed the concert and I would definitely see him live again. In fact I am seeing him live again on his summer tour in 2017. So that should be fun. I doubt I will do another blog post on it as it will be very similar to this one. Olly thanked his fans and his band and exited with 'Years & Years'.

Thank You for taking the time to read this blog post. I had a great time at the concert and I wanted to share my experience with you. Have you been to seen Olly Murs before? And what is your favourite Olly Murs song? Thank you once again and I hope you have a great week, I am off to London to celebrate my birthday so that should be fun! Keep smiling!

The Blogger Recognition Award

Hello It's 2 Peas In A Pod Blog Here,

Hello everyone and welcome back to our blog! We hope you are having a wonderful day! Today we are kicking it off with a tag. We rarely do tags over on our blog so it felt right to do one for a change. So a few weeks back we were kindly nominated for 'The Blogger Recognition Award' by the lovely Après Gal (Becca). Thank you so much, Becca, for nominating us we appreciate it so much. We actually met Becca at the blogosphere tea party back in February, she was so friendly. If you would like to check out Becca's blog post on her Blogger Appreciation Award then you can do so here

So with every tag are some rules....

  1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog
  2. Write a blog post to show your award
  3. Give a brief history of how your blog started
  4. Give 2 pieces of advice to new bloggers
  5. Select 15 bloggers to nominate the award to
  6. Let the bloggers know they have been nominated and provide them a link to the blog post you created
So going down the list we need to enlighten you lovely readers on how the blog was created. It's funny really as we both got asked this question a few times when we went to the blogosphere tea party event. It actually made us step back and think, how was it created? The story really is not that interesting as it started off with Jade reading blogs. Jade has always had a passion for writing so it felt right to begin a blog. It then came to a catchy blog name. That is when '2 Peas In A Pod Blog' was born. Jade created it but soon realised she would need a partner to make the blog name seem catchy and worthwhile. Jade invited Stephanie but that soon came to an end a few months down the line when Stephanie wasn't enjoying it anymore. That is when Lydia asked to join the blog. From then on we have enjoyed every moment of the blog and we do not regret anything. We really do enjoy writing the blog and the moment we don't is the moment we will take a break.

As there is 2 of us writing this blog post we will give a piece of advice each to new bloggers.

Jade's Advice To New Bloggers:

My advice is to simply have fun. I can not express that enough. The reason why we started this blog was to enjoy ourselves. Truthfully Lydia and I really enjoy ourselves and it has given us a new hobby.  Don't get bummed down by followers and page views. It really isn't all about that, I mean anything is a bonus don't get me wrong but make sure the content you write and publish is because you enjoy writing it and it's not for the followers and the freebies.  I personally think your readers will notice if your writing is full of happiness and joy, make that your unique selling point. More readers would rather read a blog post from the heart rather than the money. So make sure you enjoy your blog, keep working hard at it and all the hard work will pay off.

Lydia's Advice To New Bloggers:

My advice is to write what you want, and believe in yourself. Much as Jade said you have to enjoy writing a blog, and the only way to really do this is to write what you want, write about what you like, make sure that you love and enjoy your blog, as you don't want to be writing blog posts for page views etc as its not what you would want. Also write about what you would like to read, the blog posts that we write are ones that we would like to read if we were reading the blog. It isn't good writing blog posts that you don't like or enjoy.

  1. Olivia- Olivia Alesha
  2. Lisa- Fairly Rosy
  3. Erin- Erin Grace
  4. Jade- Simply Jadey

A Weekend Away In Ireland #2

Hello It's 2 Peas In A Pod Blog Here,

Hello everyone and welcome back to our blog! Today's blog post is by Jade so welcome everyone. So if you've been a long term reader of our blog you will know that every year around November time I go for a weekend trip to Ireland. I normally go for the weekend. I did the same this year and I enjoyed it so much that I thought I'd share some pictures with you again like I did last year. I know I say it all the time but honestly Ireland is my favourite place in the whole world. I just love it so much, it's very chilled and relaxed and that is what I love about it. Oh and not to forget the amazing accents.

So we drove down on Friday to stanstead airport and stayed at the hotel next to the airport. This way we don't have to get up super early for check in. We checked in and made our way to the duty free. It was all so tempting seeing all the luxurious perfumes and make up.... Urghh I want them all. However I only took hand held luggage with me so that means I can only take it ms that are under 100ml of liquid. So expensive perfume etc would of been convestcated off of me in Ireland when I was flying back home.

When we boarded the plane in England it was raining so it was nice when we landed in Ireland and it as sunny and warm.

Once we landed in Ireland we got a taxi from the airport and went to our hotel. We stayed at the central exchequer, it was very central indeed. We had the 2 main shopping areas beside the hotel. Please forgive me with the names but I'm going say they were Grafton street and I can't remember the other one but it's over the bridge where penny's is. Anyway we went to O Neil's for our full Irish breakfast and it was very filling. After that we went shopping. We went in loads of shops but funnily enough nothing actually took my fancy and I didn't buy anything.

One thing that I'd like to mention is the Brown Thomas shop's Christmas window displays. Brown Thomas is the Irish version of Harrods in London. All the luxurious brands are available to buy from there. However, the window displays are so Christmasy and so much effort has gone into them I thought it was worth a mention.

So after our tiring walk around Dublin we went to an Irish pub and had a drink. It's very traditional to drink Guinness, so of course my grandad had to have a pint.

In the evening we went for a meal and met up with our Irish friends and family who we haven't seen in a long time. It was so nice to catch up. We had a 3 course mean and it was delicious! After that we went to another pub and drank and chatted. We then got a taxi back to the hotel. Getting a taxi was with great difficulty, we had gone the same weekend that Ireland and Canada played against each other at rugby in the Aviva stadium so all the taxis were booked and the pubs and streets were heaving with rugby fans. I believe that Ireland wood so they were all in high spirits.

When we got back to the hotel we sat in the library bar with a few drinks and chatted with our Irish friends and family. At 3:30 am I decided to call it a night and head to bed I was so tired. In the morning we went down to breakfast and then headed to the airport in the afternoon.

In the airport duty free I bought a new M.A.C lipstick in the shade 'Whirl' and I got some more of my current favourite foundation which is the Estée Lauder double wear foundation in the shade 'Ecru'. We sat next to the Candian rugby team and we got chatting to them. They were lovely lads and I was surprised on how much effort and time they put in. They landed in Ireland on the Saturday and then played rugby in the afternoon at the Aviva stadium and then Sunday morning they were getting a plane back to London which they caught another plane at 2pm to Canada. I can imagine they are all tired after all that traveling, hats off to them!!

After all the excitement I was very exhausted after the weekend and I was ready to crash in my bed and fall asleep. Mind you I did stay up and watch I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, which is really good by the way.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog post. I hope you have enjoyed reading about my adventures in Ireland, I know I enjoyed going there. What's your favourite place in the world ? I've mentioned that mine is Ireland so what's yours? Leave your comment down below or tweet us on Twitter. Thanks for all the support and love. Keep on smiling 💖
