The Blogger Recognition Award

Hello It's 2 Peas In A Pod Blog Here,

Hello everyone and welcome back to our blog! We hope you are having a wonderful day! Today we are kicking it off with a tag. We rarely do tags over on our blog so it felt right to do one for a change. So a few weeks back we were kindly nominated for 'The Blogger Recognition Award' by the lovely Après Gal (Becca). Thank you so much, Becca, for nominating us we appreciate it so much. We actually met Becca at the blogosphere tea party back in February, she was so friendly. If you would like to check out Becca's blog post on her Blogger Appreciation Award then you can do so here

So with every tag are some rules....

  1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog
  2. Write a blog post to show your award
  3. Give a brief history of how your blog started
  4. Give 2 pieces of advice to new bloggers
  5. Select 15 bloggers to nominate the award to
  6. Let the bloggers know they have been nominated and provide them a link to the blog post you created
So going down the list we need to enlighten you lovely readers on how the blog was created. It's funny really as we both got asked this question a few times when we went to the blogosphere tea party event. It actually made us step back and think, how was it created? The story really is not that interesting as it started off with Jade reading blogs. Jade has always had a passion for writing so it felt right to begin a blog. It then came to a catchy blog name. That is when '2 Peas In A Pod Blog' was born. Jade created it but soon realised she would need a partner to make the blog name seem catchy and worthwhile. Jade invited Stephanie but that soon came to an end a few months down the line when Stephanie wasn't enjoying it anymore. That is when Lydia asked to join the blog. From then on we have enjoyed every moment of the blog and we do not regret anything. We really do enjoy writing the blog and the moment we don't is the moment we will take a break.

As there is 2 of us writing this blog post we will give a piece of advice each to new bloggers.

Jade's Advice To New Bloggers:

My advice is to simply have fun. I can not express that enough. The reason why we started this blog was to enjoy ourselves. Truthfully Lydia and I really enjoy ourselves and it has given us a new hobby.  Don't get bummed down by followers and page views. It really isn't all about that, I mean anything is a bonus don't get me wrong but make sure the content you write and publish is because you enjoy writing it and it's not for the followers and the freebies.  I personally think your readers will notice if your writing is full of happiness and joy, make that your unique selling point. More readers would rather read a blog post from the heart rather than the money. So make sure you enjoy your blog, keep working hard at it and all the hard work will pay off.

Lydia's Advice To New Bloggers:

My advice is to write what you want, and believe in yourself. Much as Jade said you have to enjoy writing a blog, and the only way to really do this is to write what you want, write about what you like, make sure that you love and enjoy your blog, as you don't want to be writing blog posts for page views etc as its not what you would want. Also write about what you would like to read, the blog posts that we write are ones that we would like to read if we were reading the blog. It isn't good writing blog posts that you don't like or enjoy.

The 15 Blogs Who We Nominate:
  1. Olivia- Olivia Alesha
  2. Lisa- Fairly Rosy
  3. Erin- Erin Grace
  4. Jade- Simply Jadey
  5. Britney- Britney Naude
  6. Charlotte- VieAvecCharlotte
  7. Kate- ItsKateRose
  8. Frances- Royally Rouge
  9. Kate- Life In Kateish
  10. Alicia- Aesthetic Obsessed
  11. Abbie- Life Of Abbie Jenkins
  12. Anna- Thumbelina
  13. Hannah- Alongside Hannah
  14. Clare- Pale And Intresting
  15. Lauryn- Life Of A Blonde
If you click on the blog names it will send you straight to their blogs, they are all amazing and we think all 15 of you deserve this award nomination.

Thank You for taking the time to read our blog post it means a lot thank you. We hope you have enjoyed this blog post tag and we hope to do more tags in the future. Thank You again, Becca, for nominating us we had so much fun doing this blog post. Also, don't forget to tune into our blog again this Thursday for another edition of The Interview Series. It's all exciting on our blog!

2 Peas In A Pod Blog Q & A

Hello It's 2 Peas In A Pod Blog Here,

Hello everyone and welcome back to our blog! We hope you have had a great day. Today's blog post will be a Question & Answer (Q&A). We asked on twitter for some of you guys to tweet us some questions you would like to know the answers of. So without further ado lets get answering your questions!

1. What was your highlight in 2016 in terms of your blog?

Jade: My highlight for our blog has got to be when we reached 10,000 page views. I know it's not about numbers but it felt good to be able to feel like someone is reading our blog. Since then we have hit 30,000 page views, so thank you so much!

Lydia: My highlight of 2016 for our blog is the same as Jade's, I'm just so proud of us for when we hit 10,000 page views. We've come far from when the blog first started. It' also funny to look back just before Christmas and Jade and I said that we would hopefully hit 20,000 page views before the new year and the next week we hit 20,000 page views! And now were on over 30,000! It means so much so thank you so much!

2. How do you manage to have a two-writer blog?

Jade: I really like the idea that we are a joint blog, that way Lydia and I have something to do together. It can be quite difficult to make sure that our blog posts aren't similar and the content we post on our blog is a variety rather than us both having the same or similar blog posts.

Lydia: It's normally fairly easy for us to have the joint blog. Sometimes it does get difficult trying to decide who's going to do what for each blog post. I am glad that the blog is joint as I wouldn't have thought about doing a blog myself, but, I'm really glad that we do it together.

3. What is the best book series you have read?

Jade: This is tough for me as I can only finalise it down to two. Firstly for an easy read, I recommend the Zoë Sugg, Girl Online Trilogy.  It's an easy and relaxing read and I really enjoyed the story line. My other book series favourite is the Twilight books. I read them all so fast, I much preferred the books to the films, I even went on to read other books by the author that were spin-offs from Twilight. I just love them a lot.

Lydia: I never used to read much, but recently I've come across a couple of good books, however they aren't book series'. But, I have to say my favourite book series I have read is probably Malory Towers by Enid Blyton. These have been around a while but my mum used to read them with me so I have fond memories of them.

4. If you had to live out the rest of your days as an animal, what animal would you be and why?

Jade: The animal I would be is, a dog. I would love to be able to say an exotic animal like Zebra or something. However, I would definitely be eaten by a Lion very quickly. So I will be boring and say a Dog, preferably one of my pet dogs as they are looked after and are spoiled rotten!!

Lydia: This is going to be a really boring answer, but, I would probably like to be a cat. The main reason is because cats sleep most of the time and I really love my sleep and love having naps. I would like to be my cat as he is spoiled and always gets hugs and attention!

5. If you could only have one make up item what would it be and why?

Jade: I would say foundation as I have red skin and not very clear skin so the foundation would cover up all the redness and blemishes.

Lydia: I would probably choose concealer, I mainly just use concealer as it does a good job of covering my blemishes.

6. Do you collect anything, if so what do you collect?

Jade: I collect Disney teddies (plush toys). I have so many that I have lost count and I also have no more room to store them. I love them lots though.

Lydia: I don't actually collect anything in particular that I can think of. I mainly just keep and collect little things that I get from family holiday's as memorabilia.

7. What is your favourite Disney film?

Jade: My absolute favourite Disney film has to be Fox And The Hound, makes me cry every time.

Lydia: I would have to say that Lion King is my favourite, although I cry when Mufasa dies. But I just genuinely love the film and love all the songs in it!

8. What was the last film you saw in the cinema?

Jade: I rarely go to the cinema, the last time I went to the cinema it was to watch Me Before You. That was with Lydia and it was sad.

Lydia: The last film I saw in the cinema was La La Land, I saw it on Sunday actually! And it's safe to say that I absolutely love it and I've had the soundtrack on since then! Ryan Gosling is just perfection!

9. Favourite pair of shoes you own?

Jade: My all black converse, I have definitely got my money's worth out of them. I am considering in re-buying some new ones.

Lydia: My favourite shoes are my white trainers, they are basically a cheap version of converse, as I wear them to college everyday I had to invest in a new pair, I love them so much and considering that they are cheap they are actually really comfy and good quality!

10. What are your aims for your blog in 2017?

Jade: My aim for the blog this new year is to advance in our photos on our blog posts.

Lydia: My aim for the blog is the same as Jade's to make my photos and blog post's better, to improve our blog just that bit more.

Well, that is the end of the blog post, we hope you have enjoyed getting to know us better. Thank you to those who tweeted us questions for our Q & A. Hope you have a great day and thank you for taking the time to read our blog, it means a lot. Thank you.

Make Up Advice For Beginners

Hello It's 2 Peas In A Pod Blog Here,

Hello everyone and welcome back to our blog !! We hope you've had a good week so far. So, as you can see by the blog post title, today's post is about make up advice. We wish when we first started out using makeup we had a guide to make up. It would have saved us a lot of money !

Tip 1: Stick To The Basics

The best thing for a beginner is to stick to foundation, powder, mascara and 1 colour eyeshadow. This may seem a bit boring but trust us, you need to know yourself what sort of finish you like or colour etc. So there is no point in splashing out the cash on the brand new high end foundation that everyone is raving about. Stick to a drugstore one so then it's easy to access and you can swap and change until you find the finish you like on you. That might be matte or dewy. Also sticking to 1 eyeshadow will keep things alot easier and you won't look a wally when you try to blend 3 eyeshadows together.

Tip 2: Don't Wear It Everyday

You've gone a long time without wearing makeup, so it's a shock to the system when you start blocking your pores with foundation and powder. So try not to wear it during the week and keep it until the weekend for a while else you might irritate your skin and flare up with bad spots.

Tip 3: Work Your Way Up

Once you are comfortable with a foundation that you trust, then start to look for concealers. You might like liquid or block. So try some out. Then develop onto different shades of lipsticks. Eg nudes, berry tones or a classic red lip. After that look for a cute blusher.

Tip 4: Use Make Up Brushes

We swear by make up brushes, they help apply the make up on smoothly and help decrease the imperfections. Now we know it's tempting to use your hands to blend in your foundation. DO NOT AT ANY CIRCUMSTANCES DO THIS. Please we are begging you. It's scientifically proven that germs and bacteria spread quicker that way. Just think of the germs you would be spreading onto your face, not to mention the acne. Also this is a friendly reminder to try and clean your make up brushes once a week if not once a fortnight.

Tip 5: Do Some Research

If your not 100% sure on a certain product do some research. Go online and read the reviews on it. See what others are saying. It's also great to watch a beauty video on YouTube. Then you can see what the product is like in visual format. You are better off knowing yourself about the product before buying it.

We hope you have enjoyed this blog post. We hope it's been useful in helping the beginners out there  entering the big wide world that is make up. It's a great place to explore and we wish you luck with it. Thank you for taking the time to read this blog post !! Hope you have a good day !!

Jade's May Favourites

Hello It's 2 Peas In A Pod Blog Here,

Hello everyone and welcome back to our blog. It's Jade here and I hope you have had a gorgeous day. Today I am going to be talking about My favourites in May. May has been a packed month for me and I'm sure June will be too. This month I started my GCSE's hopefully all my hard work will have paid off. June will continue to be packed but I also get to see the end of my exams on the 20th. Anyways lets get on with the blog post.

My first favourite is the Emma Hardie amazing face moringa cleansing balm. I purchased this in York. I absolutely love it. I feel like my skin has improved so much after using it and my skin feels so clean. Before this product I'd have never used a cleansing balm before but this product is great, you can definitely see the differences in your skin when you use it. It's great at taking make up off too. The only downfall is the muslin cloth it comes with is white and all I can say is it's stained orange and black from my make up. So I just use a normal face cloth from next instead. I definitely recommend this product it is a little on the pricey side, it's £38 for 100ml but a little goes a long way. I use a pea sized amount every day and it's lasted me for ages and is still going strong.

My next favourite is my Ted Baker sunglasses. I purchased these for myself out of my birthday money and I love them. Majority of my friends were shocked I paid a lot of money for sunglasses when I normally sit on them or loose them. However they are so cute how could I not? As its been sunny recently in England I have been able to use them and they do a good job of keep the sun out of my eyes. So I love them. I've also always wanted a nice pair of sun glasses so I thought I'd just treat my self.

My next favourite is the sanctuary spa thermal detox clay mask. It's a thick clay mask that is grey. All you need to do is apply it to your face and almost straight away its warming up your face. It says to leave it on for 5 minutes but I leave it on for a good 10 minutes. After that I use a muslin cloth to remove it off my face. It leaves my skin feeling clean and super soft. I definitely recommend this product, it's an affordable price of £9.99 and it lasts a long time. I tend to use it twice a week and I've had it since March. I think this is a good dupe to the origins clay mask. It's also great for a stressful day and it helps you unwind.

This is a bit of a random favourite but I've been really enjoying smoothies, especially in the morning. Sometimes when I eat in the morning it makes me feel sick so I've recently been making a fruit smoothie. My favourite is bananas, strawberry, kiwi and raspberries. A weird combination but it's so refreshing and gives you a health kick in the morning.

The last favourite is the real techniques blush brush. Recently I've been applying more blusher than usual and I really like that rosy cheek effect. I think the blush brush is perfect for applying it onto your face, it covers all the areas on your cheek bones. It's also super soft and I quite like holding a chunky brush. It's easy to clean and get the excess blush off. I am a fan of the real techniques make up brush range, as you all know I like to rave about them. I think they are such good value for money. They are such good affordable prices and do a great job. Also most of all the bristles don't fall out which is a bonus!!

So that's all from me, I hope you enjoyed reading this blog post and if you try any of these items out or you share the love for one of these products then let us know !! I hope you're having a great day and don't forget shoot for the moon because even if you miss you'll land amongst the stars 🌟.  Be Happy.

Handbag Essentials

Hello It's 2 Peas In A Pod Blog Here,

Today's blog post is by me, Jade. Firstly I would like to apologise for the bad lighting in the photos in this blog post. I had to rush taking them and I only had spare time at 6pm in the evening, as you can see it's not the best natural lighting. Anyways this blog post is about the essentials I keep in my bag. I'm definitely one of these people that carry around too much in their bag, so you might think this is an excessive amount of items but I feel it's just the right amount.

Michael Kors Handbag  £260.00

So firstly this is my bag. I was lucky enough to receive a Michael Kors handbag for Christmas and ever since then I love it. It's very practical you can either use the small handles that are already on it or it comes with a longer strap to go around your shoulder. I much prefer it with the longer strap. It's nice and spacious inside and I can get a lot inside it. It's a lot of money to start off with but Its worth it.

Umbrella-Penny's- €12.00
I really like this umbrella I got it when I visited Ireland as it was lashing rain down and we needed some sort of protection. This was my favourite and I've used it ever since. It's a really good price and is reliable. I got it from Penny's which is the Irish version of Primark. I take this umbrella with me all the time during the winter seasons as you never know when you're going to need it here in England.

Packet Of Tissues- Primark- £1.00 For A Pack Of 12
This is simple really you always need a tissue for if you have a snotty nose or you have just sneezed. This was from a frozen themed pack of 12 from Primark. I can't moan really you get your value for money and they are in cute packets. I'm such a child when I saw them I just had to buy them.

Hair Bobbles & Grips- Primark - £1.00
There seems to be a theme of items from Primark. I got these hair bobbles and grips from Primark they were £1 each. You never know when you're going to need a spare hair grip or bobble so I always carry spare.

I Phone 5s- Apple- £180.00
I always carry my phone around with me because I like to keep up to date with social media and be able to call and text people whilst I'm on the go. I love my phone it works really well and is just the right size. No more words needed.

Soap & Glory Spray- Boots- £3.00
I received this spray in a gift set of 4. I personally don't like the smell of the other 3. However, I absolutely love this scent. It's called 'Sugar Crush' and its a very fresh scent which is unusual for me as I love a sweet scent. This just reminds me of summer so I always carry it around in my bag because I often feel conscious that I smell awful so it's easy to rectify the problem with a little bit of spritz.

Purse- Dorothy Perkins- £20.00
I really liked this purse so I "borrowed" it off my mum but never managed to give it back. It's a nice small size and has places to put your money notes, coins, cards and sentimental photos. It has a twist lock and keeps everything inside nice and secure.

Keys
They open the front door that leads into my house, I would be stupid if I didn't leave the house without them. I wouldn't be able to get back into my house.

Lipstick- Gosh- £6.00
This was the lipstick I was wearing the day I took the photo. So whatever lipstick I'm wearing I always carry it in my bag so then I can re-apply throughout the day. This lipstick is a matte type which is my favourite type and it applies really nicely and I find it's not too drying on my lips, which I really like. It's a nude shade and is more pinky tone, it's a little like my beloved Mac Velvet Teddy but a little more pinky toned.

Hand Sanitizer- Carex- £2.99
I always like to carry a sanitizer because if your outdoors and shopping or catching the tube etc it can be really filthy and who knows what bacteria is living on the hand rails or door handles. So for my own peace of mind, I just like to carry a bottle just so my hands are clean. Also, this is in the strawberry laces edition which smells divine.

Notebook & Pen- Don't Know- N/A
I love to carry a notepad and pen in my bag because then if you really need to jott something down then you can. Also this is my blog post planning book. So I can schedule the blog posts for when Lydia and I are going to post and what we are going to post. I love the notebook it self its really luxuroius and the detailing is gorgeous. I recieved it as a gift from my step mum so I dont know where it is from, sorry.

Body Lotion- Zoella- £5.00
I use this as a handcream and I normally have my Zoella wonder hand in my bag but recently I packed it in my suitcase because I went somewhere and never got it out. So im subtituting it for my body lotion, they still work the same. It smells really fruity and summery. It is a big bottle to carry around but its just so nice to moisturise your hands on the go if they are feeling dry. I think the product it self is quick drying and works really well. I apply this nearly everyday and its working really well.

Earphones-Apple- £25.00
I got some of these with my phone but I accidentally dropped them in a pot of paint which ruined them. I love them so much that I bought them again. I highly recommend them as they stay in your ears and are a good quiality of sound.

I hope you have enjoyed this blog post, thank you for taking the time to read the blog post. I hope I have given you some ideas to what to pack in your handbag. I hope you have a good day and rememeber to smile.

Thank You,

Jade Xx
