Our Top Tips To Relaxing

Sit back, relax and unwind… it can often be quite difficult to even do one of these things, let alone all three. It is so important that you do take time out of your day for yourself, even if you can only manage 10 minutes then it is certainly worth it. So, we’ve gathered a few tips or activities to do to help you unwind after a busy day.

Captivating, thrilling or romantic, you really can’t beat a page turner when you’re looking for something to do to help you relax. Grab yourself a hot cup of tea or coffee and find a comfy spot whether it be in your garden or your house! Then open up your book and get lost in a fictional world. We’re just about to start reading ‘Little Fires Everywhere’ by Celeste Ng, so many people have recommended this book that we thought we would give it a read.

Can you really beat a lovely hot bubble bath packed with your favourite scented bubbles and a great Lush bath bomb? When you get home from work or college and your feet ache and you think you stink there is really nothing better than running a bath. If you’re feeling a bit tense, stressed or agitated then put on the full works. Bubble bath, bath salts, bath bomb, face mask, scented candles and even a small glass of prosecco. Why not?

Meditating has become more popular over the years and there are so many free ways to help you mediate. A guy on a train going to London once told us that Youtube is full of accounts that offer various length videos for people to meditate. In addition, we quite like the app called ‘Headspace’ they offer really good sleep casts for someone who struggles to get to sleep and also 5 minutes mediation tutorials that you tune in every day to. You can unlock more for additional money but the free version is just as good.

Finally, it’s a walk in the park! Quite literally a relaxing walk is always a great way to get some fresh air and clear your head. We usually walk our dogs and we’re very fortunate to live in the countryside so we walk the well-trodden fields and take in the stunning views. You can opt to hearing the nature and wildlife at its finest or put in your earphones and listen to your go to playlist or a great podcast. Whichever way you prefer, but going on walks isn’t just great for your health but also works wonders for relaxing.

We hope you enjoyed this blog post and our tips and activities to help you unwind work. These are just based off what we love to do so hopefully they will work for you! If you have any more tips then please feel free to leave them in the comments as it would be great to know some more. Staying with the theme of relaxing, we both will be taking a short break from our blog over the course of June to rejuvenate and freshen our minds – we hope to come bouncing back in the summer!

Thank You,

Jade and Lydia

Dealing With Stress

Hello It's 2 Peas In A Pod Blog Here,

Hello, we hope you're  all doing well. Today we thought we would do more of a chatty blog post. Our aim this year was to put more effort in the blog posts.... It's not going the best so far but hopefully, this all changes around in this blog post. Stress. It's an awful word and it means a lot, many people get stressed out over anything. So we thought we'd be able to help you relax a little more.

We would just like to reiterate that we aren't some sort of expert on stress, we are going to past experience and how we coped with it.

So firstly we would definitely recommend staying away from caffeine which is scientifically proven to calm stress levels down as they are stimulants so they will increase your level of stress. So if we are feeling quite stressed we keep away from the coffee and high in sugar products. Just so we feel more relaxed.

The next tip we have is to catch up on your sleep. You might be feeling stressed because of the lack of sleep your body is taking in. So why not get in your warm fuzzy pyjamas and rest your head. However, you might be getting such little sleep because your mind is elsewhere and that's why your stress levels are increasing. So try and put whatever is bugging you to the back of your mind, we are not trying to tell you to bury your head in the sand but definitely just try and not think about it and get some sleep so you feel a little less stressed. Try to forget about that your body needs 8 hours of sleep, as that will make you worry and you will continually think about that. Also, try to not do mentally demanding work a few hours before you go to sleep as then it will give your brain time to calm down.

Try to relax. We think this is the most important point as it is the key to all of the points to deal with stress. If you tend to get stressed throughout the week then dedicate an evening to yourself. Run yourself a warm bubble bath and relax in the bath with candles. Buy your favourite magazine and have a read of it whilst soaking. Make sure you put on your favourite face mask and just zone out from the world. Make it your time. After that, moisturise and just relax in bed. Make sure you just chill out. Once you are physically relaxed your mind will also switch off.

We've also heard its good to keep a 'Stress Diary'. By keeping a diary you can write down when you felt stressed and why you felt stressed. It will help you become more aware of the situations which cause you to become stressed. So all you really need to do is note the date, time and place of each stressful episode and note what you were doing, who you were with and how you really felt inside.

Our last tip is to learn to say NO. This is a big issue for us, we don't like to feel that we have let someone down so we often feel obliged that we have to say yes. Some people say yes when they know they have so much to do and such little time. Yet we still agree to the additional responsibility however if we learn to say no we would be able to reduce stress levels and it might also develop your self-confidence. We know it can be hard to say no as you want to help but for once put yourself first.

We hope these few tips have helped you and we really hope you take them on board and try some of them out. We are currently under loads of pressure as were in the middle of revision for our GCSE's and we can tell you it is SO stressful especially with all the pressure the school put on you. So we definitely have taken some of these tips on board. Have a lovely day and smile because life is a beautiful thing and we should embrace it.
