Our Travel Must Haves

Sunshine, ice creams and cocktails by the beach, it can only mean one thing... holiday time! It's starting to get to that time of year where Instagram is filled with cute inflatables by the pool and awesome holiday pics! There is one thing that we stress about and that's the packing! Getting your suitcase ready is one thing but your travel bag is another. Beside all the important documents such as your flight tickets and passport you're going to need some things to keep you amused all day!

Starting off with a book. This is Jade's priority when travelling because once you're on the plane or even in the airport it's just waiting around! It is best to bring a selection but don't make your bag too heavy! A key tip is to pack a few in your suitcase but your favourite one you are most looking forward too in your travel bag. We currently recommend Five Feet Apart by Mikki Daughtry, Rachael Lippincott, and Tobias Iaconis!

The next item for your travel bag is a snack! You're allowed to bring food into the airport but no liquids which is fine. Our go to snack has to be some sort of chocolate nibbles! Come on food is literally life and the plane prices are extortionate so it's best to be prepared! We recommend these Jaffa Cake nibbles, they're relatively new and oh boy are they yummy!

*Gifted*

The third item we recommend is something that will conquer the 100ml limit in security! The Twist & Spritz is the ultimate handbag essential that allows you to transport your favourite perfume in a travel-sized 8ml atomizer. The first scent we put in was Victoria Secret... and it smells divine! The atomizer is completely travel-friendly as it's in a compact unbreakable bottle. It really helps from the possibility of breaking your favourite perfume bottle! These retail at £12 which is so affordable and they are reusable which is a bonus!

The final item we recommend is podcasts! These are a recent love and we definitely can't recommend them enough! Using Spotify to listen to the podcasts is the easiest we've found, plus if you have spotify premium you can download them for the plane. The podcast we 100% recommend is 'When Life Gives You Melons' it is so good and it discusses so many female topics and it's just so light hearted for travelling.

We hope you've enjoyed this blog post and these tips have helped you when packing your travel bag. We would just like to say a massive thank you to Twist and Spritz for gifting us the atomizer... our travel life has completely changed for the better! Lets just say we're gonna smell oh so fine whilst travelling haha!

Thank You,

Jade and Lydia

It's Okay Not To Have A Life Plan

It often quite hard to see that other people have their lives planned out. All down to how many children they want to what job they want to do. It can be quite daunting to know that some people around us have 'life' figured out, but I don't. Which is completely fine. So what if I have no clue where I will be in 5 years time, that is the beauty of life. We have our whole life ahead of us, I am only 18 and I have plenty of time to change my career path again and again!

I mean, yes I have to admit some days I do wake up and go to work or go to college and think wow, I should really have some sort of direction of where I want my life to go! But no it really doesn't matter as long as I am surrounded by my true friends and family I am okay with that. I am a big believer in everything happens for a reason and yes it does! The fact that I know that the college course I am doing isn't for me is okay on the bright side I have made some friends for life.

I've never really known what I want to do, and it has put more pressure on me recently as I am in my final year of college and need some sort of plan. So, I have made a sort of plan for when I finish college, and that will be to get a full time job, just so I have money coming in until I find what I really   want to do in the future. This is not failing, I look at it as 'buying time' I can enjoy my life with a steady income until I really know what I want to do!

In all honesty, it really doesn't matter if you have a life plan or not. Some people have everything planned, and some people don't, whichever you are it really doesn't matter! So please don't worry that others around you have it planned, when in reality they probably don't they're just winging it!

Thank You,

Lydia

It's Okay To Be Different

It's Okay To Be Different

Walking with large feet, ginger hair flowing in the wind and waving with dinky hands. These are all characteristics that some would refer to as imperfections. When actually no, they're what makes you so unique and yourself. No one ever should feel bad and upset by the way the look or genes they have inherited.

Nowadays it is so easy to make fun of someone and not feel bad about it. Taking social media for instance, since when has it been acceptable to comment on someone's photo rude comments like 'Fat Whore' or 'Ginger Weirdo'... never so why do people do it? Please don't hide behind a username its not cool and it's not funny. The way I look at it is, would you like it if someone said mean things to you, no? So why do it to others?

I maybe stepping beyond what I really wanted to talk about in this blog post but, when I actually sit down and write these the words just come flooding out and I go off on a tangent! Anyways, back to being unique. It is most important that you learn to love yourself and brace all of your characterises and flaws. Like yes I have the worse skin possible I am forever battling ache but hey, I embrace it. As long as I know I'm keeping on top of it, what does it matter to other people? I wear make up but not to cover my spots and blemishes, it's because I enjoy wearing it and the art behind it. I can tell you something, come 5pm on a weekday and I am leaving the office my make up is half rubbed off and I look meh... so what! It's not me that has to look at it, it's the public!

Please don't feel like you need to change for other people. I'm not saying you're not allowed to change as sometimes change is a good thing. But change for you and not others.

That's all I have to say... I hope you enjoyed my weekly dose of wisdom... that I don't really have. If you like these types of blog posts please do let us know and we will continue to do more.

Thank You,

Jade

Learning To Love Yourself

Learning To Love Yourself

In a world full of negativity and hateful comments, it can often be quite hard to take a step back and appreciate yourself. However, I feel it is most important to love yourself and understand that sometimes you have to put your life before others. Now, I'm not saying throw your friend under bus or anything, but what I'm trying to say is sometimes allow you to be your main priority.

You shouldn't compare yourself to others. Everyone is their own unique person and comparing your life to someone else's can be dangerous. Seeing people on social media or even in real life with their new handbag or "family" photos can be really disheartening. Looking at people who go to the gym everyday and still have an amazing social life, I sometimes feel deflated. Knowing that I never really find the time to go out with my friends due to other commitments and these 'amazing' people on social media get to do all of this. When in reality they only post what they want us to see, they paint this ideal world for us. Don't compare yourself to those, be who you want to be! Just because they go to the gym and hang with friends everyday does not mean that is the normal thing to do. When in fact there is no normal thing to do. If you want to lay in bed all day and watch Netflix then you do that!

Post what you want to post on social media, don't try to fit within a certain theme. Yes, I agree it is quite nice to see a beuatiful flat-lay, but leave that to the professionals. Don't let your Instagram theme bog you down, if you want to post a picture, then you post that picture! Just because a picture of you in your pyjamas doesn't fit within your food prep and beauty theme... so what? We won't judge!

Another important way to love yourself is to dress how you would like to. I see so much in the media lately about the way girls dress. I can't actually believe a judge in America had the audacity to say this girl was raped because of her lace underwear, apparently wearing that sort of pants is asking for it! Wow, just wow. No, wear what you want to wear! If you'd like to wear your bikini on the beach...then do so! Don't feel like you have to dress for those around you! I certainly don't, some say wearing a skirt is dressing up now, well guess what I'm wearing a skirt because I want to.

The reason why I am highlighting this subject is because, I am fed up with seeing girls around me not allowing themselves to be true online and offline because of society around them. It may be a mixture of insecurity and society but please do not feel pressured to be a certain way because a famous person does or its the trend to do so. I get that not everyone likes to stand out from the crowd, stay below the radar. If there is one thing that you do in 2019, please make it a priority to love yourself.

Thank You,

Jade

Status: Updated

Almost everyone is on social media, whether that's Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat or even all of them. Both Jade and I are on all of the above. As sad as it sounds, I don't go a day without being on one of the forms of social media. Every morning I go on snapchat to keep the 'streaks' with people, it's just habit that I wake up and go on my phone to make sure the 'streaks' stay.

There are so many different social medias out there, and now-a-days people are obsessed with them, me included. Nearly everyone has a smart phone so they can access their Facebook or instagram etc at any time of the day, one of the worst things to see on social media is seeing the skinny and beautiful women that are considered 'perfect'. These women are all stereotypically skinny and beautiful so people who don't look like that tend to try and change them selves so they can also become 'perfect'.

Carrying on with the whole being 'perfect' thing, I think most teenage girls have doubts in their mind, I even do myself. I think "there is no way I will ever be that perfect and pretty", but you have to think that most of them have been edited and aren't true to life and have probably been set up, to make them look 'perfect' online.

Filters for pictures are great, but I keep noticing more and more people using them a lot more. Some people can't take a picture without using filters, all their pictures on there social media accounts have a filter on. I do tend to use filters, as like most people I think they make me better, either they make me look slimmer, make my skin look clearer and all round prettier. I try not to use them, but I feel if I don't I look terrible. It's annoying that filters are around, we use them so regularly that we don't look like ourselves because it so heavily edited, but, unfortunately thats how society expects us to be now.

I personally try to show myself on all my social medias as who I am, other than using snapchat filter! Some people pretend to be people that they aren't at all. I think that you should just be yourself, there's nothing better than being true to everyone and yourself, and no point pretending to be someone you're not, you should be confident with who you are and be proud of it.

I use a lot of social media, which I would love to cut down on especially as most of it is just the 'perfect' girls that I can't not compare myself to. But, because I'm on it so much its hard to cut down! I do love social media though, as it means I can stay in contact with friends and family and see what they get up to! What's you're favourite thing about social media?

Thank You,

Lydia

The Boys Of Our Generation

Warning: Sensitive Content

It's so easy to get caught up in the whirlwind of romance and the idea of love, to actually take a step back and see what's happening around you. Lydia and I have had our fair share of chatting to boys. This is the majority of the time in a friendly manner. And seeing and hearing what they have to say has literally made me disgusted. So, I have decided to write my thoughts on the subject as I am appalled by some's behaviour.

So I have a few experiences I'd like to share with you and I will not be beating around the bush. So, if you are offended by sensitive content then I recommend you stop reading the blog post. I was torn whether I should explain the scenario and leave out the harsh comments or just say the truth. Which I believe I have chosen the right one by telling the truth, if boys sit there and think it's acceptable to send it to a female, then I am sure it is acceptable to post it on our blog.

Firstly, we have the story which I like to call, The Coward.

One evening I was minding my own business until a message popped up on my Instagram. Intrigued, I opened it up and it was a Lad the same age as me. It was a simple, Hey. Being the friendly person I am, I replied back with Hello. After the normal chit-chat, he asked me "What's the cheekiest thing you've done?", I knew straight away he wanted to know personal information etc. Which at this point alarm bells rung as I did not know the guy from Adam and he was wanting to know personal information. I replied back 'None of your business' and he continued to pester me, with comments like 'You're boring' or 'You're frigid'... I am lucky in that sense that when I truly believe in something I am not afraid to speak up. I messaged him this 'I am afraid I'm not going to stand there and let you treat a girl like this. Your behaviour is disgusting and I think you should really think about the way you talk to girls. If you thought to come in at me like that would impress me, your sadly mistaken. Also, if you think I am going to tell a complete stranger my personal life, again your mistaken. Stop treating girls ill-mannered and piss off'.

The next story is short but sweet.. well bittersweet story!

This guy on facebook sent me a private messaged. I opened it up and it said 4 glorious words. "Show us your tits". Fantastic. I don't need to say anymore. I think this story speaks for itself. Other than that individual must be lonely, sad and a low life. I did not reply to that comment. I blocked him instead.

My final story is the one I like to call, Busted!

This guy added me on Snapchat and sent me a message, it was of his torso and the band of his boxers, show off the Calvin Kleins. That I'm sure after knowing his personality, he owns one pair and uses them for his pictures. Anyway, I basically send snaps back with my Pug Unicorn pyjamas. The guy continuously asked me for explicit photos. I continued to decline. After a few attempts, I sent him this back 'Please stop asking me to send you explicit photos. I do not know you very well and it is something I agree with personally'. After that, I told Lydia about the guy.

To which we discovered something. Just a few hours before he was speaking to Lydia inappropriately as well! Lydia told him that the only pictures he would on get Snapchat were pictures of her dogs, which he blocked her straight away. Which we both found weird he kept asking me. So I had a plan. I got the guy to follow me on Instagram so he would see pictures of Lydia on there. I asked him if he recognised anyone on there and he said no should he? At this point, I am so disgusted that he is actually pretending to not recognise Lydia. I told him did he recognise my friend Lydia? he again lied and said no didn't know a Lydia. So, I sent him this 'I think you're lying or you speak to that many girls asking for nudes that you can't remember Lydia. I'll remind you, you spoke to her today asking her for photos like you did me? I assume you do that to most girls, I am afraid your speaking to the wrong girl, I have self-respect and don't go around sending pictures to random guys! You need to grow up and have some respect towards women and try to keep it in your pants!'... I am not surprised he blocked me straight after without a reply. Also blocked me on Instagram!

After experiencing these situations, I felt the need to write this blog post. Not to be like all boys are like this bad blah blah! I am writing to enlighten all the women out there to stand up for what you believe in. I do trust in the fact that there are women that will willingly send explicit photos to strangers, but that is not something I would do. I have self-respect and I assume there are girls out there who aren't strong enough to say no. Which I'm not highlighting that everyone is their own person. But please if you are ever in an uncomfortable situation like any of these, please say NO or speak to a trusted friend who can encourage you to do the right thing. You should never let boys treat you like this and expect you to do their every word.

Thank You,

Jade

Nebula

Hello It's 2 Peas In A Pod Blog Here!

Hello everybody! Welcome back to our blog, how is your week going? Today is an exciting blog post, we have partnered with a company called Nebula (https://www.nebulalearning.co.uk). Nebula is a company that help the personal finances of teenagers.

So, it's the start of a new academic year, you may have left school and gone to college, doing another year of college or have just finished. It's never too late to learn about financial matters. Surveys have shown that 1/4 of the 4000 young people (18-30 year olds) surveyed are constantly in debt and are having to borrow money to meet ends meet. Since 2014, financial education is on the national curriculum, yet only 40% of school teach it. So, Nebula was created to help educate young people how to manage their money, they do an online course that teaches you about many aspects of managing money.

The course is made up of bite sized videos and quizzes, which makes it easier to follow, plus you don't have to do it all at once. The course includes understanding the economy, managing money and learning to invest.

The course is a great way of how to learn more about money and managing it. Students need to know about their money, and how to deal with it. Nebula's course teaches young people about managing their money and investing, so when it comes to their future they know what they're doing and not making mistakes because they haven't been taught it. It is something we both believe needs to be taught more! Nebula is a great way to learn about finances at such a small cost.

Nebula's online course is just £24 which is great considering how much you learn out of it! Nebula's link; https://course.nebulalearning.co.uk/a/aff_s0lgmyd8/external?affcode=182630_zrlyqecj

The online course is helping younger people to deal with money in the correct way, it is a truly fantastic course.

So, that is the end of this blog post. We really hope you enjoyed reading and enjoyed learning about Nebula. Nebula really is doing a great thing for students and young people with helping them learn more about money. Don't hesitate to check out their page and if it is something you would like to learn more about then, it is worth the money! Thank you for reading.

What's In Jade's Beach Bag

Hello It's 2 Peas In A Pod Blog Here,

There is nothing like going to a gorgeous beach on a hot summers day! Well, I can't say it's all white sand and deep blue sea here in England... but we do have good fish and chips. So, I guess it has its pros and cons! Anyway, as we have been blessed with a glorious summer this year, I have found myself going to the beach more often! So, I thought it would be a great idea to share what is in my beach bag.

Firstly, my beach bag is this really cute deep blue Ted Baker bag. My mum bought me this with the matching flip-flops. I love this bag and I love the fact it is waterproof because its that plastic material that makes it easy to brush off the sand and water.  I would recommend this bag.

The next thing in my beach bag is something that takes up most of the room. It is my beach towel. Can we appreciate the pug? I have to admit to getting this picture was not easy! It is essential you bring a towel because then you can wipe off the sand!

Suncream is a must have in anyone's beach bag, especially mine. I burn so easily so I always have to lather myself in suncream. I usually use factor 50 but as you can see this is a factor 15. It's because it is my mums and mine had run out! Bring suncream!!

A book is something that is always in my beach bag because it gives me something to do on the beach. I love the sound of crashing waves whilst I get lost in a cracking book. In my beach bag this time I brought 'Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine' I loved this book so much. On first impressions, I found it a slow starter and struggled but about halfway through I could not put it down. Highly recommend this book.

The final thing I always bring in my beach bag is a bottle of water. It is essential to keep yourself hydrated when it is boiling hot outside. So, I always pack one in my beach bag so I can have a drink on the beach to cool myself down.

I hope I have given you some ideas on what to pack in your beach bag this summer! Have a great time at the beach and remember to stay hydrated! What is your summer essential in your beach bag?

5 Tips To Enjoy Summer

Hello It's 2 Peas In A Pod Blog Here,

Hello everybody! Welcome back to our blog, how is your day going? As you all know it's now summer, and the weather here in England is lovely, so hot and sunny! So, what better way to celebrate the gorgeous weather than write a blog post about the 5 best tips to enjoy summer.

The fist tip to enjoy summer is to create a summer playlist. We love creating playlists, our summer playlists contains all our favourite music plus songs that we are loving right now. We both listen to music in our cars whilst we're driving and having a great summer playlist makes driving better!

The next tip to enjoy summer that we have is to have a bit of  'me time' and relaxing. Whilst the weather is so nice, there's nothing better than having 'me time' in the sun. Lydia's favourite way of relaxing is to sit outside sunbathing (and in shade when she gets too hot) reading. It's nice to just take a while out to relax.

Another tip is to spend time with friends. There's nothing better than spending time with your close friends catching up and having a laugh. It's so nice to enjoy the sunshine whilst catching up with friends.

Our fourth tip is to have ice cream. Ice cream is our favourite thing in summer, it cools you down when it gets really hot plus is just amazing! There are so many different flavours and all different types. You can also make your own ice cream or ice lollies.

The fifth and final tip to enjoy summer for this blog post is to go out and enjoy the weather, whether it is going to the local park or to the seaside, it's great to get out the house especially when the weather is so nice! The park or seaside are great places to spend time in summer.

So, that's the end of this blog post. We hope these tips have helped you. What are your tips for summer and the lush weather. We hope you enjoyed this blog post and thank you for reading!

How To Prepare For A Concert

Hello It's 2 Peas In A Pod Blog,

Welcome back to our blog! We are super excited, in a few days we are both off to go see Niall Horan in Manchester! We are so excited especially having seen Harry Styles a few months back. If you have read our blog before you know we like to go to concerts!! So, because we have been to a few we thought we would do a guide on how to prepare yourself for a concert.

Our first tip would be to book the day off work or school. To us, this is crucial because we live out in the middle of nowhere, which means we have to travel to go to our concerts. We are approximately 3 hours away from Manchester so it is worthwhile we take the day off so we have enough time to get there. It also means we can do a bit of shopping and go out for a meal. We both like to make a day of it.

The next tip intertwined with the first tip, making sure you have your travel arrangements sorted out. This is key to plan a few weeks before especially if you are booking train tickets.  Luckily, we are driving up to the venue so we do not have to plan too much. But we do need to leave in plenty of time to ensure traffic will not bog us down.

The next tip is a bit of a boring one but sensible in the fact is make sure you have enough money on you. This is to make sure you can afford to buy something to eat and drink and buy some merchandise at the venue! Obviously, the merch is the most important part, haha!

The next one is an obvious one but it has happened to Jade before, make sure you bring your tickets with you.  Else you will definitely not be getting in the venue! Also, a pro tip, do not buy tickets from any other ticket store except the ones provided by the artist.

The final tip to prepare yourself for a concert is your outfit! This is essential, one does not simply chuck on any outfit! NO WAY! You need to consider.. will you be hot in the venue and suitable footwear. This is the first time we are standing at a concert so we will need to wear comfy shoes and consider if we want to wear a jacket or not. It will be super hot and crowded although we need a pocket to put our phones in.... decisions decisions.

That is it for our blog post this week! Hope you have enjoyed reading it and take on our tips for preparing yourself for a concert. Be sure to come back next week to see out Niall Horan Concert Review!

Having An Off Day

Hello, It's 2 Peas In A Pod Blog Here,

Welcome back to our blog, it is Jade & Lydia here. Can we just take a moment to mention that this is a last minute blog post. We had planned to take pictures last Saturday for an outfit blog post, planned to go up in this space. However, the weather did not agree and decided to let the heavens poor down. So, it was time for improv haha! Without further ado, let's talk about the days when you feel rough and down.

Truth be told, it's one of those days right now which inspired this blog post. Everywhere it's plastered that we should all have self-confidence and believe in ourselves blah blah. No, let's just strip it back a bit. Realistically it is never all bright sunshine. It is actually okay to feel down and sad because it is actually quite normal. Like right now the only feeling going is self-pity. Everyone is different and feels sad and down in different ways.

When Jade was younger she once said to her mum "Mum, I feel sad inside". This is so cute and it was her way of telling her mum she was having a down day. Which, we could all take a lesson from young Jade. The first thing is telling ourselves it is one of those days and that we do not have to do anything that will push ourselves too much.

A pro tip is to take yourself away from the crowd and have a few hours of 'me time'. It will do you the world of good. Just sitting with your own thoughts and thinking about what has made you sad and down. If it affects your well-being so much, then maybe it's time to make a change. It is worth a thought because no one wants off days every day, do they?

If it is someone who is making you have an off day then please do have a considerable think about it and maybe distancing yourself from that person is the best way. Make sure you put yourself before others, we are sure that your close family and friends will respect that and allow you to figure out what makes you have an off day.

We hope you have enjoyed this blog post and we haven't bored you too much. It is a subject that we believe should be talked about more. We are all allowed off days. What is your pro tip for dealing with an off day?
